MASERATI GHIBLI II GT/R | 1 of 1 – MASERATI100 2014 HQ

Here another video from the Day 1 of the Maserati100, the Centenary Gathering of Maserati, and part of the material I’ve recorded when more than 250 supercars have reached PIAZZA GRANDE in Modena, Italy to be exposed and admired so be sure to not miss any of these watching the appropriate playlist I’ve created for.
This is the biggest Meeting in the history of TRIDENTE and saw the partecipation of hundreds of crews from every parts of the world like Europe, China, Russia, Australia and America. This is a Three Days event having its first checkpoint in the city of Maserati Factory (MODENA) where all started in 1914 and where Maserati allowed people to admire all cars with precious like 3 MC12 GT1, classic cars like the Bora, the Merak or Mistral, tens of modern ones like the new Quattroporte, Ghibli and Granturismo MC Stradale and super rare ones like the Boomerang, two 4200GT Spyder 90th Anniversary and a Touring Superleggera Bellagio. In the second day the 100Maserati get to Cremona to race on the SAN MARTINO DEL LAGO Circuit and to reach in the evening Turin. In the third day there will be a prestigious 100th Anniversary Concours of Elegance in PIAZZA SAN CARLO in Superga.

In this video a stunning and unique orange Maserati Ghibli GT/R II series with Norwegian driving licence plate takes part at the event giving me the possibility to film it in each detail like rims, engine, interior, cavallino logo and to record its noisy start-up and its lovely sound while driving.

The Maserati Ghibli is an italian supercar produced for the first time in 1966 by the manufacturer of Modena of the “Tridente”. The car is now at its third series and it’s for sure one of the well known supercar of the Maserati’s history.

The Maserati Ghibli II Series was a two-door coupe sports car produced since 1992 to replace the Maserati 228.

The cars was featured by a 2.8 V6 engine (or 2.0 litre for the italian and european markets) which was an updated version of the Maserati Biturbo engine and which can develop 284 hp for a top speed of over 250 Km/h and less than 5,7 seconds from 0-100 Km/h.

The Ghibli 2 had a 5-speed manual trasmission basically, but was also available in the 4-speed automatic and 6-speed Getrag manual mode.

The design was by Marcello Gandini, already father of the Lamborghini Miura, Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini Diablo, Lancia Stratos and Bugatti EB110 for Bertone and was charaterized by square and angular lines.

Since 1994 the Maserati Ghibli II was available with new interior, new wheels and a fully adjustable electronic suspension and ABS brakes were added. Another round of improvements resulted in the Ghibli GT in 1996. It was fitted with spoked alloy 17″ wheels, and had suspension and transmission modifications.

Several special edition models were produced by Maserati. The first was the Ghibli KS (Kit Sportivo), followed by the race version Ghibli Open Cup which featured improved power through roller-bearing turbos, a freer-flowing exhaust, and remapped fuel computers.

The Cup (only 57 examples made) also featured a toned-down carbon fiber-trimmed interior with aluminum pedals and a MOMO steering wheel, and the drivetrain included tweaked suspension and Brembo brakes.

To celebrate the world speed record on water, Maserati made a further 60 special edition Ghiblis called Maserati Ghibli Primatist, featuring bright blue paintwork and blue / turquoise leather (only 60 units made).

At the time the Ghibli Cup had the highest ever per litre power output of any street legal car, surpassing the Bugatti EB110, and Jaguar XJ220.

The Maserati Ghibli II Series went out of production in 1997 when was replaced by the Maserati 3200 GT and still remain one of the most beloved and rare Maserati ever made, with 2.200 coupe made.

Complete walk around with each detail like interior, wheels, engine, logo and lights, driving, LOUD starting-up and really noisy exhaust rev sound.
